see sunshine and milder air taking over. a man accused in a lexington murder case has been returned to the bluegrass and will face a judge later devonte hobbs
was booked into the fayette county detention center last night after being arrested in detroit last month. police say hobbs is accused of
shooting timothy brown multiple times in the mcondald's parking lot on russell cave road back in january. wkyt's mark barber joins us live from
outside the courthouse with more on the case. us marshals caught the 21-year-old detroit man, who is accused of killing timothy brown junior, more than 300 miles from here. court
papers from his arrest are now giving us a much clearer picture of what happened the night police say he murdered a lexington father. according to an arrest warrant, devonte
hobbs met with brown back in january to buy drugs in the parking lot of the mcdonalds on new circle road and russell cave road. a witness told officers that hobbs pulled a gun on brown to rob
him during the drug deal. brown was shot several times when he tried to drive away. an employee in the fast food restaurant heard the gunshots and called for help.
by the time the 23 year old was rushed to the hospital, it was too late to save him. after a witness identified hobbs as the shooter, he was picked up in detroit two weeks ago.
the 21 year old was brought back to lexington yesterday so he could answer to his charges of murder and robbery here at the district courthouse this afternoon. live in lexington, mb wkyt.
a man is behind bars in eastern kentucky after investigators say he was caught impersonating a police officer. new this morning... we are learning
more about what led to his arrest... from the victim he pulled over while pretending to a member of the law enforcement. wkyt's caitlin centner is at the
livedesk with the details. it happens to drivers out on the roads every day, but for an ashland, kentucky man a traffic stop this week was very out of the ordinary.
just before midnight tuesday joshua brock got pulled over on route 60 in ashland by an officer in an unmarked truck. he made brock take a sobriety test, but brock says he wasn't drunk
and hadn't been speeding. what he did say, though, was that the officer actually smelled of alcohol! so after he went back to his unmarked car... brock called 9-1-1 to
confirm that this man who had pulled him over was actually a police officer. come to find out... he wasn't and... those flashing lights brock saw in his rear view mirror was actually just
a glow stick inside of a latex glove the man had waved around in his windshield. joshua brock / ashland, ky."it kind of gave me a red flag because it was so small. it was just one little, single light in
the window." "i feel like it could have ended much worse...i'm really glad it didn't." according to brock the man looked the part... but unfortunately for that fake officer he ended up in handcuffs.
deputies say 33- year-old timothy stauder had a loaded gun, several other weapons and vodka in his truck. they say brock did the right thing. at the live desk. caitlin
centner. wkyt. police have charged a laurel county man with 'murder'... for the death of his twin brother. the laurel county sheriff's office says
30-year old anthony johnson died tuesday... after being hit in the head repeatedly with a hammer... at a home on robinson creek road. they
arrested his brother, antonio johnson, later that night. deputies say the johnson brothers had been living in the home... along with one other
person. they haven't said, what they think led to the murder. the 20-16 race for the white house is getting more personal -- as candidates on
both sides shift their focus to upcoming primary contests in the northeast. yesterday - bernie sanders and hillary clinton questioned each
other's readiness for office... while republicans donald trump and bernie sanders sparred over the issue of new york values. don champion has

leaders of the state house and senate over the state budget. talks broke down last thursday... as the democratic- controlled house.. and the
republican-led senate couldn't agree on higher education funding. governor bevin and senate republicans want to cut money from public colleges and
universities to pay for state pensions. but house democrats refuse to take away funding for education. party leaders met yesterday... and are
expected to resume talks again today. if they don't have a budget ready to vote on by tuesday... the governor would have to call a special session to
pass one. "sen. robert stivers/ senate president: it's happened many times before, and this is something that has happened. it's not unusual. i don't want to say it's common, but
it's happened before and we've dealt with it before." senate president robert stivers said talks went well yesterday... and he's confindent they'll pass a budget by
next week. a decision has been made to allow bath county schools sports teams to finish their spring seasons on fields at the county's
parks. the end of the season had been in limbo over a dispute about a lease agreement between the park board and the school board.
after negotiations for a new lease broke down... their lease was recently terminated. a letter was then sent to the school system saying they would have to
stop using the fields by may 12... when the lease ended. many grew concerned over what would happen to the end of this sports
season. so a special meeting was held last night to address the issue. within 3 minutes... the parks board extended the district's lease
through the end of may... allowing school teams to finish the season. "at the end of the day, we want the kids down there because that's what it's built for. and we want them to play.
all we're asking is 'take care of your part of it.'" the bath county superintendent was not at last night's meeting. but says the school district will work with the
parks board in the coming weeks... to make sure they have a lease agreement in place for next school year. a federal judge has sentenced a
coal executive to spend a year in preson... for a mine explosion in west virginia that killed 29 miners. "i hope you never have to bury your kid like we did. we buried our kid
because of you!""you get to see your boy. how in the hell do your raise your head?" that's the reaction from some families of those miners... after don
blankenship was sentenced yesterday. the c-e-o of massey energy... which owned the upper big branch mine, where the explosion happened
in 20-10. he was convicted of willfully violating mine safety standards. the one-year prison sentence... was the maximum allowed by law.
former clients of an eastern kentucky attorney... are reacting to his arrest on 'federal' fraud charges. eric c. conn was part of a scheme...
to get more than six hundred 'million' dollars from the social security administration... through disability payments. the agency is now
telling about 15- hundred of conn's former clients to undergo hearings.. to determine if they can keep their disability checks. conn is still in custody... pending a
detention hearing today. psyhchologist alfred adkins.. and judge david daughtery also face charges in the case. country music
legend merle haggard has died. the singer recorded more than three dozen number one country hits... in a career that spanned six
decades. he's best known for such patriotic hits as "okie from muskogee" and "the fighting' side of me." haggard died yesterday, on his
birthday, at his home in northern california of complications from pneumonia. he was 79. some frightening moments for singer gregg
allman's band... when their bus crashed in west virginia. it happened early yesterday morning on interstate 77... just north of charleston.
the driver of the bus started 'choking' while driving... causing the bus to crash. they say three people on the bus were taken to the hospital for minor
injuries. gregg allman's concert in charleston 'did' go on as scheduled last night. the lexington legends will open their 16th season
