today i'm going to give my full review ofthe cubot bobby. the cubot bobby has a 5" display, which is540*960. this is much lower than fhd. the ppi is just 220. that said, the lower resolution display requiresless power and therefore contributes to better battery life, more than a bit. the display itself, in terms of quality, that'sextremely to watch out, and it's difficult to see in bright sunlight. also the viewing angles on this device arebad.
it was difficult to see the display from anangle even in dark conditions. but i think it is a vital part of this device,and it was completely overlooked. this phone is powered by the mtk6572w dual-coreprocessor @1.3ghz. it also has 512mb of ram, which seems lowand it is. it's difficult to keep more than about 5 appsopen at once. performance was slightly better than i expected. however, don't plan on playing at high-endgames on this device. even casual games stuttered force me to grab a faster phone. boot time on this device was average, butthe boot-up animation plays a short
sound clip every time you power on the device. this is very annoying and i wish there wasa setting to turn it off. the device gets a relatively low score inantutu, but keep in mind that this device scores muchhigher than other devices at the same price. the 8mp rear camera on the cubot bobby producesgood miages but the outdoor shots appear to be betterthan many mid-range chinese smartphones. the call quality on this device was surprisinglygood. perhaps the most notable feature of the cubotbobby is the dual-sim capability. it's very impressive that this was broughtto such a low-end device.
it'll be one of the key selling points forbuyers and emergent markets. the phone has 4gb of storage, however it canbe expanded up to 32gb with a micro-sd card. despite the price, the cubot bobby runs afairly newer version of android 4.2.2 jelly bean. it's slightly disappointed that this devicedidn't ship with android 4.4 kitkat. is it it would be have benefited from theextra optimization. also the cubot ui skin all low light annoyedme, it replaced the regular app icons on my homescreen with those with the rectangular background. batttery life on this device was very good.
i found that it easily lasted a day to dayto have a normal usage. cubot also bundled up a power sync app whichhelped me save battery life even further. this is really cool and nice to see from achinese phone maker. the device itself is very thick at around11mm (0.43 inches). this is mainly because of the large battery,however is easily noticeable pocket can feel bookie in the hand. it is also relatively heavy, weight at 186g,this may be a shocker for some. the back inside the device are very glossy,but give the device very nice feel. the back cover was difficult to remove, whichwas a minor annoyance.
the power and volume buttons on the rightside, and they have a nice click feeling and easilyto press. and the top ther was a micro-usb port and a 3.5mm heardphone jack. i really like this fact it was nice to seeeven at a low-end device. when you buy the cubot bobby from pandawill,you're not only to receive the phone, but a free case, usb charger, ac adapter,earbuds, and 2 quick start guides. overall the cubot bobby is a great low-enddevice, although the display may turn many peopleaway, the battery life and price are unbeatable. you can also purchase the cubot bobby forjust $107 in black, white, red and yellow.
